Blogging basically came about as a way for people to add opinion and editorials to their websites without having to change the actual html. They wanted the easy access and publishing capabilities of an online forum without the hassles of maintaining one.

The word “blog” is a contraction of the term “web log” and is a very common social networking device. Blogs are usually maintained by a blogger, an individual who posts original content providing news or commentary about a certain subject. Sometimes blogs serve as an online diary for the person blogging. There are hundreds of millions of blogs containing text, videos, music, art, audio commentary, and sketches. Each blog is as unique and individual as the person maintaining it.
